Getting Involved

Not everyone wants to get involved in the same way. On this page we are presenting several options that we hope will encourage others to "Get Involved" and help improve the welfare of animals.

Volunteer Your Time

You and/or your humane organization can help COLAA by:

PARTICIPATING in COLAA's work as an active member.
SUPPORTING COLAA's work by simply becoming a dues-paying member.
LENDING COLAA your professional expertise relevant to a particular issue or goal.
USING your political influence to help us pass urgently needed state, local or federal animal protection legislation.

Make a Donation

You can make a tax deductible donation to COLAA at any time during the year, if you wish to support the animal welfare programs that we are involved with across the entire state.

Contact your Legislators

House Bill 170 / Act 225

HB 170 amends LRS 3:2475 which contained a loophole in the sterilization law regarding public and private shelters. Subsection (D) has been deleted in its entirety. This bill has been signed by the Governor and is now Act No. 225.
